Asian Legal Business (ALB) released its “China Top 15 Rising Lawyers 2016” on July 20th, 2016. Mr. Song Shen from Sunshine Law Firm’s international practice team was on the list. This list showcases those who are growing fast to become the leading young lawyers in China. The selection criteria include work achievements, representative track records, peer review and client feedback. Candidates include many outstanding lawyers under age of 40 who come from premium law firms across the nation. These Top 15 Rising Lawyers are in recognition for their strong performance, great reputation, and growing client base which demonstrate their potential and excellence.

Song joined Sunshine in 2015 as the head of the international practice and oil and gas practice. He is specialized in cross-border mergers & acquisitions and energy project development and finance.

Prior to joining Sunshine, Song used to work for CNOOC for many years, where he headed contract management, dispute resolution, and overseas mergers & acquisitions under the legal department. He also worked at Jones Day Beijing representative office and Dentons D.C. office.

Song is exceptionally experienced in oil and gas. He participated in many significant deals, projects and cases while working at CNOOC, such as the acquisition by Bridas Corporation of BP’s 60% equity interests in Pan American Energy, the acquisition by Bridas Corporation of Exxon Mobile’s downstream business in Argentina, Paraguary and Uruguay, the acquisition by CNOOC of BP’s interests in Y13-1 Gas Field in the South China Sea with the consideration of $308 million, the acquisition by CNOOC of 10% participating interests in Gladstone LNG project from BG in Australia, the development of CNOOC Huizhou Refinery Project, the development of Liwan 3-1 Deep Gas Field (the first deep water gas field in China), and the Tangguh LNG Project Finance in Indonesia with the total borrowing of $3.5 billion.
