
Xiangmin has been Of Counsel with Sunshine Law Firm since January 2017. He graduated from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China (BA), the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, the U.K. (LL.M) and Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada (LL.B). He is qualified to practise law in Ontario, England and Wales and Hong Kong.
Xiangmin has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law, international trade, cross-border M&A and project finance gained in the U.K., Canada, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Since 1995, Xiangmin has practiced extensively in China-related foreign investment transactions with particular emphasis on structuring and documenting electric power, oil & gas, petrochemicals, mining, transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing and other infrastructure projects, and more recently, on compliance, competition law, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, international trade sanctions, arbitration, litigation and dispute management.
Prior to joining Sunshine Law Firm, Xiangmin was General Counsel for BP’s Global Petrochemicals Strategic Performance Unit (SPU) as well as for BP China. He led a team of nine lawyers (three based in the UK, one based in the US and five based in Shanghai) and two support staff with responsibility for providing legal advice to BP’s Global Petrochemicals SPU with business and investment activities in Europe, Asia and North America as well as providing legal advice to BP’s business activities in China.
