Russia and Kazakhstan are important countries of “the Belt and Road”, the Central Asia market has been one of the main destinations of Chinese enterprises’ “going out” strategy. In the past few years, The investment from China in Russia, Kazakhstan and other central Asian countries has been increasing gradually. In order to facilitate the understanding of Russia、Kazakhstan & Central Asia’s energy market and further promote the investments in these countries by Chinese companies, on August 31st, Sunshine Law Firm and its international strategic partner Chadbourne & Parke LLP jointly held a “Russia、Kazakhstan & Central Asia Energy Investment Seminar” in Beijing.
In the seminar two senior partners of Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Andrei Baev and Charez Golvala introduced the legal environment, preferential investment policies, investment opportunities and risks and preventive measures in Russia and Kazakhstan from the respect of law and practice. The seminar was presided by Shen Song, director of International Project and Business Department of Sunshine Law Firm Beijing Office.
Andrei Baev, the managing partner of Chadbourne & Parke LLP Moscow Office, gave a presentation in relation to Russia’s investment opportunities; and introduced the M&A tendency, privatization and foreign investment restrictions in Russia.
During interactive discussion, the attendees of the seminar had an in-depth communication on SPA warranty clauses as well as distinctions between a British SPA and a US SPA in M&A transactions, Kazakhstan’s privatization, remedies against political risks, in M&A transactions, Central Asia’s energy development and etc..
